This barleywine stout blend is heavy on raisins, roasted malt, whisky, and chocolate. Tong carries notes of after-dinner sherry, figgy pudding, and dark chocolate mousse. Perfect for those who don’t want to choose between stout or barleywine: reap the rewards of both!

Thanks fonefan! Very deep copper colour, close to black, minor head. Aroma is chocolate syrup, mild bourbon with some nutty tones as well as some chocolaty tones and some dried fruity tones. Flavour is quite similar to the aroma, but also has some wooden tones to it. Stouty strong ale.

16oz @ Ryan's (thx, man!).
Aroma: a lot of sherry, dark fruits. There are some stout notes, but it's mostly on the BW side.
Taste: a bit boozy, kinda spicy, a lot of sherry, dark fruits, oxidation.
Overall: complex and good one.

Poured from 473mL can. Very dark brown with small beige head. Lots of dark dried fruits, underlying chocolate and molasses, lots of barrel, especially old woody bourbon and sweet sherry with some cognac rounding things out. Very nice.

I AM NEXT!
Dark brown. No head. There is all kinds of bourbon and cognac on the nose, and it's got more of a toffeeish barley wine character, with only a slight accent of stouty roast. As the palate rolls, it's got lots of sugars, slight acidity, figs, a touch of stone fruit, and throughout there's always a good dose of bourbon and sherry. I love how this comes together. The question I have is why is this not called Chong Li?

473mL can, pours a deep dark brown / near-black with a small beige head. Aroma is very rich, with lots of cognac and bourbon barrels upfront, followed by molasses, caramel, and dark dried fruits. Flavour is huge on the cognac barrels upfront, which overshadows the bourbon, along with huge dark dried fruits, caramel, and molasses. Almost a bit of tartness to the cognac on the end. Complex and rich. Very good.

473 ml can. Pours a very dark brown with a little fizzy head that disappears quickly. Aromas of cognac, chocolate syrup, and slick roasted malts. Flavors of oaky cognac, bourbon, chocolate syrup, vanilla, oily roasted malts and a bit of thick sweet sherry. Can’t really get the Barley Wine in the base but overall lots going on in the taste department. Very good
