Bottle thanks to Rainer. Pours a dark brown with beige head. The aroma is oak, wine, and roast. Medium mouthfeel with sweet roast, oak, wine with nice boozy finish. Good.

750 ml corked and caged bottle. Aroma is initially somewhat unpleasant-- cloying sweetness--but it starts to develop into something more interesting after a couple minutes; I get raisins, molasses, licorice, wood. Pours dark mahogany with a large beige head with great retention; has a foamy look that I know will translate to the palate. Taste is as described: strong porter mixed with grape juice. The cloying sweetness I noticed in the nose in the first couple of minutes after I popped the cork is not noticeable in flavor at all. It starts out vaguely sweet before nice bitterness, savoriness and tartness take over. The porter is nice and roasty, a bit chocolaty, the grapes are somewhat tart. Mouthfeel is foamy as predicted from the look of the head; I like a more finely carbonated beer, and this is the beer’s biggest flaw for me. Good brew, though, even with these quibbles.

Share courtesy of Gription79. It poured up with a murky mahogany body supporting a tan head of foam. The aroma offers up crushed grape skin and then light blueberry mixed with earthy gravel notes. The taste is nice and rich and chewy with grapes and berry notes mixing with a slight red wine sensation. Into the finish it gets sort of mild earthy gravel road too. Interesting and a nice fruity sipper.

Tap at Odell - clear dark ruby pour - nose is pretty much all imperial porter - caramelized sugars, chocolate - can’t really detect the barrel - if I didn’t know, I would not guess - body is definitely thin for something of this strength - approach is all chocolate and burnt sugars - middle has a slight hint of grape juice - finish is light roast and char, along with a hint of tartness - again, hard to detect the barrel/wine - seriously disappointing, but not necessarily bad - glad I didn’t spend 14 bucks on a bottle.
