Location: 22 oz bottle from Buy Rite, 1/20/13
Aroma: The nose has grapefruit/citrus hops, some caramel malt notes, and a bit of potpourri
Appearance: Pours a mostly clear gold-orange color with a frothy off-white head and sticky lace
Flavor: The taste is mostly all bitter, and it works nicely at first, but the flavor in the finish is slightly off
Palate: The body is medium, it feels smooth and soft on the mouth, with a quite sticky, dry finish
Overall Impression: This one has some interesting components to it, and has the makings of a really good one, but it just fell a little short for me. Also, I also didn't find any discernible notes of the raisin or golden syrup mentioned in the description. Taste-wise, it doesn't quite live up to the nose, particularly the finish, which is just a little off. Otherwise, I found stuff to like, but leaving an off taste in my mouth isn't the best final impression.

Bomber from Malt & Vine. Pours very hazy orange amber with a creamy off-white head. Huge citrus/grapefruit nose. Med body. Flavor is a bit off for me - in the sense of not enough barley to support the incredible amount of hop. On the other hand flavor is marvelous for me because of the incredible amount of hop. It’s got a very light floral touch, but most all is citrus and a lot of grapefruit rind. Doom must have been the end of the hop budget. So it finishes dry, incredibly hoppy, but smooth rather than harsh. I’m about off about calling golden syrup treacle, but our cousins do it, and it’s technically correct. Damn tasty ale!

Draught. Clear pour. Aroma is caramel and raisins. Medium bodied. Rather sweet flavour with a bit of oatmeal. Raisiny finish. A dessert beer to be sipped.

Bomber. This is the coolest label yet in the series. Pours hazy orange with a medium cream-colored head with decent retention. Aroma is extremely citrusy in the best possible hoppy way. This smells so fresh. Tastes fresh, too. It’s really bitter. Tastes like an extremely well-made American Pale, but basic--I’m not getting any syrup or raisins. Carbonation is moderate and the body is medium. Delicious pale ale, but the label makes it sound more experimental than it tastes.
