Phantasmagoria is an IPA that is low in malt flavors, but high in hops. We brew this beer as a nod to the big hoppy beers of the west coast. We use loads of citrusy and piney hops at the end of the boil and in the fermenter to make this beer a hop experience.

Bottle. Hazy golden yellow color, fluffy white head. Aroma of mango, coconut. Taste is sweet and juicy tropical fruit, not much bitterness. Tasty.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass; no bottle dating, but is a recent release. Pours hazy golden orange color with a 1-2 finger dense and fluffy white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of huge pineapple, peach, apricot, mango, passion fruit, papaya, guava, grapefruit, tangerine, lemon/orange peel, pine, light honey, bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Fantastic aromas with awesome complexity and balance of juicy/dank citrus/tropical/pine hops and light-moderate pale malt notes; with great strength. Taste of huge pineapple, peach, apricot, mango, passion fruit, papaya, guava, grapefruit, tangerine, lemon/orange peel, pine, light honey, bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Moderate pine/citrus rind/grassy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of pineapple, peach, apricot, mango, passion fruit, papaya, guava, grapefruit, tangerine, citrus rind, pine, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of juicy/dank citrus/tropical/pine hops and light-moderate pale malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero astringent hop flavors after the finish. Moderate dryness from bitterness that increases though the glass. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, sticky/resinous, and lightly grainy/creamy balanced mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a light warmth lingering after the finish. Overall this is an incredible DIPA! All around fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of juicy/dank citrus/tropical/pine hops and light-moderate pale malt flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink for the ABV. A highly enjoyable offering.

Bottle. Pours hazy golden, large puffy white head, dissipates slowly leaving lots of lacing and residual. Aroma is grassy, hints of passionfruit, pine, pot. Flavor is light plus sweet, medium bitter. Medium body. Not bad, but not really competitive with the current state of the art.

On tap at Tapwerks. Pours a clear pale gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of tropical fruit with some bitter citrus and a touch of sweet grain backing. Flavor has more bitter citrus with a bit of resin and some underlying tropical fruits and sweet grains.
