Deep amber pour, aroma of booze, cheap butterscotch, and wet paper. The flavor is really just as bad but it ends with a sourness. Bottle must be off but I’m sure it’s just as bad fresh.

Pours a clean brown colour with lots of copper highlights. The head is beige, kind of creamy, decent stay and good creamy lacing. The aromas are very weird - not appealing. Kind of milky, kind of farty. All of this over very sweet malt and hints of burnt barrels smokiness. The taste is a little better with more the barrel and liqueur taste. Still, a little off. Not much of a finish and mouthfeel. Would not have again.

Bottle from Terre de Boissons, Calais. Yes it’s got some cognac to it, but for me it lends a bit of tangerine orange to the dark beer. I have to admit that when I got home with my haul of Grimoire beers from Calais and saw the ratings I thought they’d all be duds, but I think they are alright. Canadians are clearly a lot more fussy about their beers than me.

Bottled. A dark red beer with a tan head. The aroma has notes of fruits and malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, yeast, and fruits, leading to a dry finish. Thanks yespr for sharing.

Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of yespr. Pours a clear nutty brown with a beige head. Odd, sweet artificial woody booze aroma. Thin body, doesn’t appear 7% at all. Some burned caramel and extremely artificial Cognac flavours. 270413

Has an okay clear amber body and decent enough head on top when poured aggressively. Soft aroma of malt and nothing else. The flavour is a whole lot of soft nothing with an odd perfumy aftertaste all over a very weak palate. It started out so well, and ended so badly.

Bouteille 500ml.
