Special - May 2011.

For the first time in 7 years we are bowing to pressure to make a mild for May - but this will be an American style brown ale.....with lots of hops!

This is Rob Wicks’s take on the famous Pete’s Wicked Ale, one of the first American beers he ever tried many, many pints ago. Loaded with American grown Brewer’s Gold hops - it’s virtuously wicked.

Gravity cask at the Alma. Russet hue pour with a slight film. Tangy hops and faintly roasted malts on the nose. Ok flavor, not too sweet, some bitter roast, grass and toast. Light bodied with soft carbonation. Thick, grassy hops to finish with not enough sweetness. Just alright.

Cask handpull at Three Mariners Hythe. Deep brown clear lasting dark beige head. Yes some american hops on this. Definite brown ale maltiness in the mouth. Some dryness on the finish. Really quite tasty. Lovely brown malt and American hop blend aroma. Super and good to have something different from this brewery.
