See me blow out your teapot. I’m from the Chinese era Qing. Big batch of bad-ass brew, I will make you sing. Women on the left of me, men on my right. Ain’t got no corn, ain’t got no rice. I’m just malty nice. Cause I’m TNT. Sometimes you’re not in the mood for what everyone else is having.

650ml bottle. Hazy dark brown colour with huge, firm, frothy, diminishing, beige head. Smokey malt aroma, hints of bacon and dark honey. Taste is initially sweet smokey, barbecue sauce, baked banana in honey, later with minimally tart, slighty floral overtones; sticky palate, vanishing carbonation gives an insipid impression. Untypical Weizenbock with a principally nice, slightly overdone smokey note; overall way too sweet and insipid.

Bottle thanks to Tim. Pours dark brown - almost black - with brown head. Nose/taste of tea leaves, smoked malt and peat. Some hints of banana. Tea really dominates the taste whereas the peat and smoked malt are more dominating on the nose. Medium to light/medium body.

Bottle. Smoked ham and malt aroma. Dark brown color with small head. Sweet malt and smoked ham flavor. Lightly bitter herbal hops finish. I’m not a huge fan of this combination of sweetness and smokiness - would have loved this if the sweetness were much more subdued.

On tap at Crunchy’s, East Lansing. Deep opaque brown body, thick tight tan head. Tannic, ashy, leathery nose with notes of dark fruits, toffee, coffee, and hints of cocoa. Tannic, ashy, leafy and nutty body with hints of chocolate. Ashy tea leaves dominate the palate, and are strangely palatable.

Served on draft at Beer Run in Charlottesville, VA, on 4/11/11. Pours a dark brown color, hazy, with a medium creamy tan head. Good head retention and lacing. Big smoky aroma with earthy notes, tea, banana and caramel. The taste is big earthy notes, tea, banana, smoke and leafy hops. Full bodied and almost sludgy in texture. Interesting.

Bomber from Wine & Cheese in Clayton, MO. Pours dark brown with a very fizzy temporary dark tan head. The aroma is smoke. Good old Lapsang Souchong! Med + body. Flavor is primarily smoke. It’s more astringent than sweet - though sweet is firmly present. Takes me back to my old tea drinking days.

From tap at Gingerman. Pours dark brown to black with a small tan, creamy and dense head. Aroma is roasted malty, meaty and vague smoked. Towards bacon. Sweet and bacon-ish smoked flavoured. Lingering dark roasted malty into the finish. Lasting bacon impression.
