A Belgian wheat beer brewed with a touch of rye and a massive addition (over 1,000 lbs. per 40-barrel batch) of plump, ripe blackberries grown by Agriberry in Hanover County, Hardywood Virginia Blackberry offers an assertive fruit character while remaining extremely refreshing. Ruby hued with the bright aroma of fresh bramble berries, this beer’s pleasantly gentle body leads to a rather dry, rounded fruit finish, making it irresistible on a hot summer day.

Bottled. Weird pinkish yellowish pour. Sour, fruity, some minor hops. Interesting but nonessential.

From tap at Craft & Draft, Amsterdam. Aroma is fruit yoghurt with slightly tart and sweetish red berries, syrupy notes, soft wheaty malt. Sweeter than I expected, wish it would be more tart, nice berry aroma. Body is medium. Decent but very sweet.

Can: Poured a dark golden orange with a fizzy fast dissipating white head. Aroma is blackberries, Belgian yeast, rye, aloe. Taste is soft blackberry, yeast esters, mellow, light sourness just to balance the sweetness.

Copper coloured body with a thick, three centimetre tall off-white and tan head. Aroma of chewy malts with some toffee, caramelised sugars, earth and a tiny bit of blackberries, but these are pretty mild. Light to Medium-bodied; Strong earthy and nutty malts show at first with a dash of caster sugar and some fructose here, but not much in the way of actual blackberry flavours, and almost no hops at all here - a hint of floral notes near the end, with some mild spices towards the finish as well. Aftertaste shows a good malt kick with that hint of sugars, but not much blackberries (or any other fruit) flavour with some soft sugars and a hit of bread and pure yeast near the end. Overall, a decent, but very underwhelming and simplistic beer without much of the key ingredient here (at least in terms of taste/smell) - Blackberries. I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased from Costco in Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia on 20-August-2021 for US$2,99 sampled while walking the streets of New York, New York with my family on 03-December-2021, as beer #3 of my Advent Calendar for 2021.

On tap at Hardywood, pours a hazy orange amber with a small white head. Aroma brings out subtle blackberries, with an even subtle hint of vanilla. Flavour is along the same lines, with light vanilla and subdued earthy blackberries. Pleasant and clean, but uninteresting.
