A Belgian wheat beer brewed with a touch of rye and a massive addition (over 1,000 lbs. per 40-barrel batch) of plump, ripe blackberries grown by Agriberry in Hanover County, Hardywood Virginia Blackberry offers an assertive fruit character while remaining extremely refreshing. Ruby hued with the bright aroma of fresh bramble berries, this beer’s pleasantly gentle body leads to a rather dry, rounded fruit finish, making it irresistible on a hot summer day.

Pour is a cloudy orange with a small white head. Aroma is some wheat malt and a bit of sour berry. Flavor is more of the wheat malt base up front then comes a bit of berry toward the end. Not enough of the berry for me to give this a better score. I guess the best to say about this is that they did not go the artificial route but the real berry flavor has faded.

This brew is a cloudy orange-pink color with a thick foamy white head that diminishes gradually. Patchy lacing on the glass. Aroma of berries, wheat and spice. Medium body with flavors of blackberries, herbal wheat and earthy yeast. The finish is fruity with a berry aftertaste. Decent overall.

Had a taste of this at the whole foods on my way home from Churchkey. Light berry taste, though I wouldn’t necessarily identify it as blackberry if I didnt know. Finishes with a sticky sour sensation.

Location: 750 ml bottle from my Dad, 1/3/13
Aroma: This one has a wheat nose, with fairly subtle, clean fruit notes
Appearance: It pours a reddish-orange clear, with a small beige head on it
Flavor: Lightly sweet and mid-dry flavor, that has an almost wine-like component to it
Palate: This one has a soft-to-average carbonation, a clean feel, and a medium body
Overall Impression: This is a pretty good one. It wasn't my favorite Hardywood, but I enjoyed trying it. The wife was definitely a fan.
