22 oz. bottle. Orange color with thin head without retention. Aroma is layers of dried fruits and caramel. Flavor has lots of dark fruit sweetness with dates, raisins and prune notes. Has a light herbal bitterness toward the bad end. Medium and full-bodied with no carbonation on the tongue. The palate displays sugar with a mildly syrupy texture. Decent.

Bottle 22fl.oz.Clear medium amber orange colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, caramel, sweet malt, moderate to heavy hoppy, grass, orange - citrus. Flavour is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20130223]

Bottle 65 cl. Courtesy of fiulijn. Pours a cloudy amber (pale??) with an off-white head. Crispy caramellish malt aroma. Rich body, caramel and perfumy hops leading to a rather bitter finish. Nice but stop calling it pale! 230213

Bomber bought at Super 1 in CDA, ID. Pours hazy orange with a medium beige head with decent retention; leaves a little lace. It is pale for a doppelbock, but not as pale as I was expecting. I was expecting a blonde or copper color, which would have been a little more interesting. Aroma is caramelly, biscuity, pretty faint, though. Taste starts out sweet before a lingering bitterness sets in; it’s also savory throughout. Has a nice toasted flavor. There’s noticeable alcohol but it doesn’t taste 9%. Mouthfeel is oily, carbonation average, body full. Pretty tasty.

Hazy red-amber color, medium sized head. Mild aroma of malt and cereals. Good body strength, with smooth mouthfeel; moderate residual sweetness, and light nutty touch; ordinary bitterness.
An ok beer, but the alcohol feeling overwhelms the other components.

Pours a clear deep golden orange color with a decent off white head that persists for a bit. Smells of sweet honey like pilsner malt with a twinge of spicy hops and a bit of syrupy orange and a solid shot of ethanol. The flavor follows the aroma with lots of bready sweet malt and plenty of ethanol burn. Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation and a sweet almost syrupy mouthfeel. I’m not sure how you can consider this a dopplebock with no caramelized sugars or dark fruits in the mix. I continue to be unimpressed with full sail, this one reminds me of a malt liquor and should be poured out of a forty.

Tastes much more like a pale ale than a doppelbock. Ok for pale ale. Pours clear orange. Aroma of citrus, orange hops. Medium carbonation and consistency. Some lacing. Taste is bitter with some saltiness. Thanks to Sammy.
