Cask at the Victoria, Birmingham. Poured a clear almost black colour with a light reddish hue and a frothy off white head. The aroma is smoky roasty, light caramel malt, with a light slightly watery, dry smoky roasty malt, dry charcoal, liqouirce, dry hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Bottle at home. Pours a dark brown to black colour with a beige head. Aroma of smoke, coffee, oak, leather and weeds. Roasted flavour with smoke, coffee, ash and dark chocolate. Silky mouth feel, light body and a light to medium bitterness. Roasted with a nice touch of smoke. Can not find much of the dry hopping.

From bottle at OSB påslutning at TO's 16.09.17. Almost ebony. Pale brown head and lacing. Rather moderate aroma, with some dark malt. Taste of dark malt, dark chocolate and coffee. Quite dry. Good drinkability.

Dark, opaque beer with a thin beige head.Smells of toffee, caramel, malt. Flavour doesn’t quite live up to the aroma, in truth. Malt, toffee, a bit of chocolate but there isn’t a lot of oomph and the finish is a touch watery, though there’s still a decent hit of maltiness there. Very decent for a stout of the strength but when I first copped a smell I thought it was going to be more special than it is.

(Cask at Craft Beer Co Clerkenwell, London, 19 April 2017) Black colour with foamy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with dark chocolate, tobacco, liquorice, coffee and cacao. Malty, roasted taste with notes of dark chocolate, coffee, liquorice, hints of tobacco and a generous roasty bitterness. Medium body, with a touch of sweetness. Tasty and well made stout. Very nice.

Cask at the 22nd Watford beer festival, Watford, Herts. A dark amber/brown coloured pour with a medium off white head on top. Roasty, malty, chocolate, dark fruit aroma. Tastes roasty, malty, chocolate, dark fruit. Nice stout from Swannay.

Cask gravity at the 2016 Watford beer festival 4/11/2016. A dark ruby red mahogany brown coloured pour with a lasting loose dirty tan head. Aroma is lemon, smooth woody roast, liquorice, black malts. Flavour is composed of black liquorice, black jack sweets, ginger, hint of wood, little treacle. There is a flavour I can’t quite put my finger on. Palate is semi sweet, rounded, milky, decent cask condition. I like it.
