Dark almost opaque brown color, small off-white head. Sweetish licorice aroma. Light to medium-bodied, but then a bit watery. Front has sweet licorice. Then hops and aftertaste has some medicinal notes. A bit weird.

Cask, glass on a sampler tray at Helgiβs Bar. A few patches on the surface, rings of lace down the glass. Near-black body. Slightly roasted aroma of earthy malts and chocolate. Mid-sweet chocolate flavours, hints of earth and ash. Roasted, bittersweet endnotes. Medium bodied. Really a well made stout considering the low abv. (Kirkwall 15.04.2016).

Craft Clerkenwell. Thanks to Leighton. Cask. Opaque dark brown beer, small pale tan head. Palate is light and semi dry, modest fine carbonation. Smooth dark malts, some roast bitterness and a little dark malt cream. Touch of dark fruits. Smooth finish. Okay but ultimately just another stout.

Cask at CBC Clerkenwell - London. Pours black with a creamy beige head. Ashy roast in the nose, dry cocoa, earth. Light-medium sweet flavor with mellow toasted malts, dry chocolate, light smoke, burnt grain, earth. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Pleasantly roasty and chocolatey dark malt finish, low bitterness. Easygoing, quite drinkable.

Cask at the 2015 National Winter Ales Festival, The Roundhouse, Derby. Dark reddish brown pour, no head. Bonfire toffee, caramel and smoke aroma. Dark fruit, ash and chocolate in the flavour. Thin bodied brew. Lacks character.
