So Letters from Thailand, which is a Thai novel, is a beer featuring fruit from India and Mexico. I associate neither mango nor dragonfruit with Thailand, so I'm confused here, because normally Small Gods names beers after novels from countries associated with the flavours of that country. It's hazy and pale amber. Aroma is mostly underripe mango. On the palate, more malty than anything else. Light acidity. Touch of mango, but not compelling or bright. Needs more. Must be some sort of bullshit Thai mango, rather than Alphonso. And as much as I'd love for someone to bring a blast of dragonfruit to a mango beer because I think that could work, at least in theory, there's not enough dragonfruit either. This is a concept that's go big or go home, and they didn't go big. If there's a second batch, may it go big because I think the base, with that gentle biscuit character, is close enough that it would work.
