Made using festive spices, and once likened to 'drinking a mince pie', this dark ruby ale is a whole heap of Christmas in a glass. So turn that Cliff Richard up to eleven and drink to the King!

CBJ Bottleshare. Thanks to Dan the man for the can. Clear deep amber beer, decent bubbly pale cream colour head. Airy smooth palate, semi dry, decent fine carbonation. Airy malts, a decent toffee caramel and cream, if a tad thin. Floral ripe fruits, quite light. Mild spice, not overly done. Modest marmalade. Semi dry crisp finish. Interesting but for me, never engages the heart.

Bottle. Dram Shop, Sheffield. Clear, dark red. No head, bar a hair’s breadth of tan. Nose has clove and cinnamon. Banana esters. Steeped vine fruits. Some treacle. Some liquorice. Taste is fruity sweet, with an estery dryness. Light body. Doesn’t feel 8%. Fairly smooth. More fruity esters on the finish. Decent, although a bit heavy on the spices for me.
