Our latest Experimental IPAs, #22 & #23, are in collaboration with @charlesfaramcanada and @nzhopsltd

For this mix-pack, we tested a brand new hop from New Zealand currently named NZ-101. We wanted to get a feel for what this hop could do so, we tested it in a West Coast IPA (pink can) as well as a Hazy IPA (green can).

We'll let you be the judge of how you like this new hop in each style of beer, but we think it's pretty interesting. We get notes of grapefruit, green pepper, and mango.

Slight haze, thin head. Med bitterness, fair bit of malt but it’s not bright. I’d definitely prefer more hop brightness and malts less sticky. Alcohol even coming through a bit. Not bad though

Hazy yellow with a decent white head. Nice creamy mandarin. Lots of orange and a slight dank. Solid with a nice juicy orange finish.

Can from the brewery
Blond colour, hazy. Mild piney resins, mild bitter citrus peel, it's dry, modern, but not impressive on the malt side, and even less on the hop brightness, some bitter burn in the end reminds us that it's a West Coast IPA. A good beer, modern, but not exceptional

Re-rate: Poured from 473mL can (heard it was better in the can so figured I would try it). Hazy yellow with small white head. Pine and light citrus hops, feint hint of butter. Still so so on this, but at least I'm not getting the degree of oxidation that I got on tap. June 11, 2022 (6/3/6/3/12=3.0): Poured from the tap @ Superflux on Clark. Malty, light citrus hops, and a touch of both wet cardboard and diacetyl. Disappointing.

16oz on Alex's porch. Appearance: a bit hazy blonde with a white head. Aroma: pine, some citrusy notes. Taste: along the same lines, quite generic, nice malt backbone, though. Overall: solid.
