So I'm unsure about the logic of making lager with kveik yeast... do they bother to lager it? Dark brown, but also opaque. Medium head. Doesn't just smell estery, it smells tart, like there's bugs in it. Uh oh. Yeah, this has sour notes, some fruit, a bit of toastiness. So it's not lagerlike in the slightest. Take that word out and it's dark kveik, and that's the character. I honestly bought it before I saw that it was made with kveik yeast. I don't think I would have bothered had I known because conceptually it makes no sense and the execution bears that out - a dark sourish beer that fermented in a wrong direction and ends up with an undesirable character. Another example of trying to run before learning to walk. Poor Victoria hipster culture.
