Maybe you’re not in the mood for a raspberry flavored, low carb, ice, dry maltsicle, and you certainly aren’t in the mood for a Rotgutzen. You are, however, always in the mood for a Pinstripe. Brewed with caramel malts and Liberty hops, the Pinstripe has a slight fruity finish and dance.

355ml bottle. Clear amber colour with small, frothy, half-way lasting, white head. Caramel malty aroma, a touch of orange and orange zest, minimally piney, hoppy overtones. Taste is minimally sweet caramel malty, slighty chalky, metallic, very cautious fruity hints of strawberry.

Decent, but average amber ale. Pours amber (duh!) with thin white head, and sparse carbonation. Initial aroma of IPA, muted with some malt. Taste is hops, malt, mouth feel is about right.

355ml bottle from Appellation Wines. Pours a cloudy amber with a nice thin head. The nose has stewed apple, maybe raisins. The taste has a bit of a cherry note but certainly more dried fruit and some malt. The palate is light to medium in body with a tangy texture and a refreshing finish. Overall, it’s alright but got a lot of other fruits than raspberry!

From notes. Bottle poured into a shaker. This beer is just ok. Grapefruit and citrus in the aroma and taste, but pretty weak. There are a lot better versions of this style out there, and this is pretty bad coming from Ska.

Bottle shared at JF’s (from BOE) 23/12/12. Clear golden amber with a frothy white head which clears to the edge and leaves a film. Nose is malt forward, caramel, light pine and hops. Taste comprises caramel malts, hops, light biscuit, toffee. Medium bodied with soft carbonation, bitter sweet in the finish.

Bottle from @cotteridgewines pours dark amber almost zero head, malt with nutty almond taste. Nothing spectacular to see here.

May 2010: My third and final beer at Mia’s Lounge in Flagstaff during my road trip. A pint glass of a copper/amber/orange (not red) beer, no haze, clear and almost bright. The head was a thin off-white bubble covering which tried to stay the distance. The smell was a mini mix of hops and malts, as was the taste. In fact the whole experience was a mini mix of flavours without any heavy substance. Pleasant, but no world beater.
