on tap-pours amber with a retaining tight light tan head. Aroma is sweet medium malt-caramel, spice. Taste is sweet medium malt-caramel, wood/spice hops with slight bite.

Tap @ Rattle N Hum, NYC. Nice head with good duration. Color is amber. Aroma and taste are caramel, candy sugar, detergent, fruits and hops.

22 ounce bottle. Tawny orange brown color. Small bubbly white head. Strong fruity roasted malt nose redolent of dried figs. Sweet brown sugar malt flavor with some hops in finish. Strong alcohol.

(Bottle, 0.65 l, at Hilpeä Hauki, 20120605) The beer poured mahogany coloured and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had malts, berries, alcohol and sweetness. Palate was medium bodied with burning alchol and medium carbonation. Flavours were malts, sweetness, alcohol, hops, fruitiness and bitterness. Aftertaste was boozy, hoppy, malty and bitter. Alcohol was pushing through too heavily and the beer felt too harsh. Aging may help.

tap at Blaze restaurant in Bar Harbor - Pours amber and smells heavily of caramel with a hint of dark fruit. The taste has loads of sweet caramel along with dark fruit, especially cherries, mild hops, and alcohol though it doesn’t taste like the ABV is as high as it is. The finish is pleasantly warming. Excellent and underrated, IMO, though I admit to some bias as I was enjoying a ridiculously cheap -- for most of the US -- whole lobster dinner at the time.

Bottle @ home. Ruby orange appearance with a cream-tan head. Moderate earthy hoppy, caramel/toffee malty, red fruity, slightly boozy aroma. Fairly bitter, earthy, organic hoppy, moderate caramel, toffee malty flavor with a bitter, moderate boozy finish. Not all that smooth.

Bottle shared at The Rake, London. Dark amber pour with a foamy, off-white head. Has a hugely boozy character on pretty much all fronts. Aroma hints at the sugar and booze onslaught to come. Flavor is very sweet, some berries and other dark fruits, caramel to spare. Full bodied with average carbonation. Warm finish, alcohol notes, caramel. In the end this isn’t terrible, but it isn’t anything special at all.
