A little drop of Mayonaise. For this Westie, we've decided to use a strain of Helles yeast for fermentation. The goal is that the finish is as crisp and dry as possible and able to let the hops sing without interference. We wanted to try and push those citrus flavours and have added a small amount of Mandarina Bavaria hops alongside a plethora of classic West Coast hops. The result is a super clean and piney beer with a really bright orange and lemon oil kick

440ml can from Taps Beer Bar, Changkat, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a hazy yellow golden colour with a mostly lasting frothy white head. The aroma is grainy, light tropical citrus. The flavour is moderate bitter, with a smooth, fresh, light piney, light citrus, herbal, woody hop bitter palate and a long bitter finish. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Nice, but not world class. I wasn’t entirely happy with the herbal notes.

Can at home picked up from 73 Enid. A mostly clear pale gold coloured pour with a lasting loose white head. Aroma is semi sweet, light sorachi ace, creamy wheat, pine, earthy citrus, dill, Flavour is composed of semi sweet, resin, earthy pine, dill, grassy citrus, green citrus. Palate is semi sweet, spicy, highish carbonation. Not bad, slightly odd hop character.

Keg at 71 Enid Street. Aroma had big malts and a light citrus edge. Slightly opaque gols. Fluffy foamy white head. A big dose of bitterness. Resinous. Planks. But this is a front for big savoury malts. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Lively soft-fizzy carbonation. Long dry somewhat astringent finish. A chewy IPA.

Keg at Cloudwater. Bright clear gold beer, small bubbly pale cream colour head. Light palate, mildly dry, good fine minerally carbonation. Light malts, sweet enough but a little thin in the mouthfeel. Light cooling pine hops. Tiny pinch of hop spice. Very light citrus - yeah kinda of Mandarin. Light finish. Nice enough.

Keg at Cloudwater taproom, Bermondsey, London. A golden/orange coloured pour with a medium white head on top. Hoppy, citrus, orange, grapefruit taste/aroma. Rather bitter and not too great.

Keg at 73 Enid Street, 24/01/2025.
Clear golden blonde with an off white cap that retains as a swirl.
Nose is bitter orange, grass, pine needle, grapefruit.
Taste comprises airy malts, grapefruit, pine nip, melon.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation, drying close spiked with assertive grassy hop bitterness.
Pulls off the WC vibe well enough but not from CW's top drawer.

Pours clear golden orange with a thin white cap that fades. Aroma is lemon, light caramel, a little sticky orange, light malt and bitter hop. Taste is similar but with a nice mineral earthy vibe. Like this. A different Westie!
