This summer, we hit one of our all-time favorite cities: Portland, Oregon. The trip was fueled by a mission to catch one of the final NOFX shows (lifelong fans over here) and dive into the heart of Portland’s legendary brewery scene. High on our list was Brujos—known for pushing boundaries with some killer brews. Meeting Sam and Ivan was a highlight; they gave us a peek behind the scenes and shared stories of the brewing craft that inspired this beer. With a nod to the East Coast’s bold approach and a relentless drive to experiment, we’re amping up flavors and aromas like never before. The hops in this batch? Handpicked from Crosby Hops, selected from their finest varieties to capture the punchiest, freshest profiles.
Shoot the Moon is a hoppy ale (Modern Hazy IPA) with a robust, rounded mouthfeel, brewed with a high wheat base for a full-bodied experience. This 6.6% ABV brew is triple dry-hopped, featuring concentrated CO₂-extracted hop varieties from Oregon State, including El Dorado CGX and Pacific Sunrise CGX, and complemented by Idaho 7 and Citra.

Dullish opaque. Thin head. Medium bitterness. Some pine, citrus, allium. Lots of hop character, but this is going in a bunch of different directions. The base is okay, just sort of there.

Can from The Gull, North Vancouver
Pale blond colour, murky. Nice aroma, it starts with tropical fruits, then some zest, then light weedy hops. The mouthfeel is off-dry, but smoother than other beers from this brewery, and the base, although still modest as all Hazies, is also a step up from their average, oats, light bread; the hopping is good, it has fruity elements, but really needs some sugars to shine; ok bitterness.
Good.

Poured from 473mL can (pkg 05 Nov 2024). Cloudy dull yellow with small white head. Big dank tropical nose, taste is lots of pineapple and a bit of chalk. Decent.
