Formerly known as Extreme Pumpkin Imperial Spruce Stout.

It’s a big stout brewed in the colonial fashion with large amounts of pumpkins and spruce tips added to the kettle for flavor and bittering qualities. The pumpkins complement the malt flavors and are used to add sugars to the mash. Whatever you do, do not think this is going to taste like pumpkin pie. For a SLOW experience, pair with BBQ venison loin, extra sharp cheddar cheese, vegetarian chili, fresh warm soft pretzel dipped in a honey mustard or grass fed beef stew.

Dark beer with a dark head. Spicy aroma, roasted malts, slight coffee, light biscuit with a touch of pumpkin. Flavor is similar to the aroma. The spice in the flavor is not pumpkin pie like just a bunch of cinnamon and nutmeg. Real nice beer.

Location: 22 oz bottle from Buy Rite - Jersey City, 10/28/10

Aroma: The nose is dark malts, roasted notes, earthy notes, and a good amount of booze
Appearance: The pour is a dark brown color with a slight red hue and a small light brown head
Flavor: The taste is very earthy/woody, with a roasted feel, and a slightly bitterness in the finish
Palate: The body is relatively full, the beer is pretty smooth, with quite a bit of heat in the finish
Overall Impression: First time I've had anything from (or even heard the name for that matter) Rock Art Brewery. This beer was alright, nothing too exciting, but nothing too exciting. I have to be honest, I didn't get any pumpkin, I wasn't expecting a pumpkin beer, but I was expecting a little bit of pumpkin in my Impy Stout, and I didn't get that. Anyway, I wouldn't rush out for this one again, but it isn't bad either, it just isn't well crafted enough.
