Formerly known as Extreme Pumpkin Imperial Spruce Stout.
It’s a big stout brewed in the colonial fashion with large amounts of pumpkins and spruce tips added to the kettle for flavor and bittering qualities. The pumpkins complement the malt flavors and are used to add sugars to the mash. Whatever you do, do not think this is going to taste like pumpkin pie. For a SLOW experience, pair with BBQ venison loin, extra sharp cheddar cheese, vegetarian chili, fresh warm soft pretzel dipped in a honey mustard or grass fed beef stew.

Thanks to Bruce for the opportunity to try this one. Pours a solid dark brown/black color with a smallish off white head that quickly dissipates to a cap. Smells of roast caramel and ash with a spicy earthy menthol aroma that I assume is spruce. This beer smells a bit oxidized or maybe that’s a mix of spruce and pumpkin. The flavor is a bit spicy and roasty. Herbal spicy menthol hits up front followed by a roasty caramel and toffee. This finishes with a long lingering bitterness that seems more intense than just hops. Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation and a roasty bitter mouthfeel. This one is certainly out of the box, but it really didn’t work all that well for me. The pumpkin is almost non existent and the spruce adds a harsh bitterness that I really couldn’t get into.

Danke an Travlr! /11/12/11/10/11

On Tap @ Sunset Grill. Pours a motor oil color with a light brown head. Aroma is very faint chocolate, malt, spruce tips, and a touch of pumpkin. After I let it sit for about 15 minutes before drinking. Flavor is Chocolate, spruce, touch of pumpkin, spices, a little smokiness. I get no bitterness at all. Body is thinner than expected for an imperial stout, but this is still good, even though it is not what I expected from a Imperial Stout. I really like my Impy stouts to be thicker and creamer then this one.

Pours black into a Sam glass. Tan head with nice retention recedes to coat surface. Thin spice and cocoa upfront turning to spruce in the lasting finish.

Draft at Taste of Tops. Dark maroon color, beige edge head. Subtle chocolate and coffee grounds aroma. Taste is wet grass and chocolate, a very odd combo.
