Gravity Cask at day 2 of the 41st Pigs Ear Beer Festival, 03/12/2025.
Deep copper topped with a lasting beige head.
Nose is fruit cake mix, caramel, toffee, stewed fruits.
Taste comprises figs, dates, caramel, faint smoke, toasted brown sugars, prunes.
Medium plus bodied, soft carbonation, semi drying close with a light rising boost.
Solid cask sipper.

Long day of dog walking, ice cream eating and beer hunting - which was particularly successful. Family barbecue in the evening with a few Brewdogs before, a nice SA shiraz with the chicken and sausage and this beer served in a big wine glass while catching up with the Olympics. Very hazy pour and a huge nose of malt. The taste was (as expected) massive and rich malt, with carbonation and even more malt. Ok, this one isn't for me, one dimensional and a bit too much.

Hazy amber brown beer, a few pale tan bubbles don't come close to ever being a head. Light palate, semi dry, reasonable fine carbonation. Tangy malts, trace of chocolate, slightly more than a trace of smoke. Little bit of caramel coming through as the beer warms up. Light finish. An old skool and somewhat smoky barleywine but it's okay.
