Bottle shared at work. My least favourite from this year's Night Shift vintages and it's really surprising because I usually dig wheat wines and rum barrel aging. This one, however, although has a decent base beer in there, is rather average, sweet, malty and boozy and on top of that showed a weird, here and there unpleasant metal-liek character to it too. The rum ba comes through, but in a rather restrained form: it gives some spicy booziness, but thats it really. It's still very far from a bad beer, but they set the mark rather high this year with the Night Shift releases.

Just a light haze on this reddish amber beer, small pale tan head. Smooth palate, slightly soft, reasonable fine carbonation. Soft malts, a nice light creamy caramel sweetness. Pleasant but not a huge amount of depth to the malts. Spicy mid, alcohol borne but only a mild to medium warmth. A reasonable touch of dried fruits goes well with the rum barrel which is relatively light but distinctly rum. Smooth and slightly spicy finish. Goes down well and copes with its hefty abv quite well but lacks that extra depth of the best.

Bottle Boozy wheat wine, peat on a nose, what's bit surprising for rum BA. Wheatish and warming alcohol on a tongue. Peaty again and finally to the end some rum. Okay, not awesome
