1st September 2019
Hazy orange - amber beer, small cream colour head. Smooth palate, very slight viscosity, decent fine carbonation. The malts are sweetish with a clear caramel tone, just a light malt cream. The oak chipping is light, traces of oaky vanilla and wet wood. A fairly savoury mid is followed by rich and somewhat aged tasting hops. Rich ripe orange, bruised orange and marmalade. Modest bitterness and modest pine. A semi dry finish finds the savoury aspect returning and stronger. My bottle says bbe June 2020. I imagine by then this will be doing a good job of passing off as rather tasty barleywine. It's half way there already.

Bottle from Appellation Wines Comely Bank. Appearance - deep amber/brown. Generous beige head. Nose - dried fruit and cake. Also a touch of pine. Taste - more of that dried orange, fruitcake, light resin/pine. Palate - medium bodied, creamy and very long indeed. Overall - a tremendous beer. And one of singular personality.

Keg at Six Degrees North, Edinburgh. It pours hazy golden - amber with a medium white head. The aroma is sweet, oily, sappy, resinous, sticky, baked goods, candied citrus, dank, green, weed amd ripe fruits. The taste is slick, oily, sticky, piney, resinous, grapefruit, pepper, candied fruits, ripe stone fruit, boozy kick, cake, bread and biscotti with a slicl, oily finish. Full body, fine carbonation and oily mouth feel. Heavy and punchy, but fun atuff anyhow.

Bottle from Cork & Cask. Hazy amber body with a huge off-white head that holds well. Low carbonation. Good lacing. Aroma of strawberry laces, pine, toffee apple and treacle. Flavour of caramel, mashed strawberry and resinous hops. Medium to full body with a slick, oily texture. Very faint fizz, almost like a well conditioned cask beer. It’s a tasty DIPA that may improve with age. Drinks well for the strength.
