Black beer, thick head soon fizzles out. Aroma is mostly toasty malt. Flavour is malt, chocolate, a dash of anise and coffee. Maybe a vague hint of fruit, not sure. It's super drinkable though, a little lively but still feels quite smooth from the oats. Could guzzle this quite happily.

(Cask at Southampton Arms, Gospel Oak, London, 20 April 2017) Black colour with brief head. Malty, roasted nose with chocolate, coffee and black rye bread. Malty, roasted taste with notes of coffee, milky chocolate, dark bread, a touch of liquorice and a balanced coffee bitterness. Medium body, with a touch of sweetness. Smooth, tasty and well balanced. Nice one.

(Cask at Kitty’s, 20170207) The beer poured clear and nearly black. Its head was small and lightly brown. Aroma had burnt malts, earth and sweetness. Palate was medium bodied with low carbonation. Flavours were burnt malts , caramel, sweetness, earth and bitterness. Aftertaste was sweet and bitter. A bit confusing brew but still rather nice.
