Dutch Bock hopped with Amarillo, tasted from tap at Foeders in Amsterdam. Lacing, egg-white, moussy head over a hazy amberish pale bronze coloured beer, seemingly a tad lighter than average for a Dutch dark 'bokbier'. Aroma of butterscotch, margarine, cherry tomatoes, candied apricot, bubblegum, some wet dog, straw, old tea bags, apple peel but very little - if any at all - 'citrusness' of Amarillo. Fruity onset, peach, banana, apple, bit bubblegummy, (too) sharp and minerally, almost painful carbonation, slick caramelly malt body with peanutty touch, some dried orange peel retronasally which I assume is supposed to represent the American hopping - but the yeasty peach and banana notes, as well as that slick caramelly malt body, linger. Accessible, run of the mill Dutch style Bock as far as I'm concerned, with very little Amarillo character - a rather failed attempt at updating this old style the American way, as other present-day Dutch craft brewers have done.

7 3 7 3 13 Draft at Foeders, Amsterdam. Very hazy amber brown with a big off white head. Aroma of toasted malts, overripe dark fruits, caramel and toffee. Flavour is above moderate sweet and moderate bitter. Medium bodied with light carbonation. Not getting much Amarillo here..
