Kilt Lifter is our award-winning flagship brew, crafted in the tradition and honor of the great strong ales of Scotland. Take one sip and you’ll swear it had been brewed by men in kilts—and maybe it was. It’s a full-bodied ale with pronounced flavors of caramel and roasted barley. Notice its amber color, malty sweetness and a hint of smokiness with a clean, dry finish? That’s a true Scottish-style ale.

0.355 l can from 'Hopt', canned in May 2017. Clear, dark reddish amber with a medium large, frothy, almost stable, off-white head. Sweetish-malty, slightly herbal-grassy and a bit fruity aroma of caramel, honey, blackberries and some nuts. Moderately sweet, malty, slightly herbal-grassy and a bit fruity taste of caramel, honey, nuts and some blackberries, followed by a short, moderately bitter, slightly herbal-grassy and a bit metallic finish. Thin to medium body, slightly effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Okay!

Clear medium amber colour, small frothy off-white head, mostly diminishing, light lacing. Aroma roasted malts, sugar syrup, dark fruits, caramel, Haagse hopjes. Taste ligth heavy sweet and light bitter, malty, toffee. Malty sweetbitter aftertaste, burnt caramel, fruity touch. Medium body, oily to watery texture, average carbonation, quite satisfying despite some wateriness, very nice.

On tap. Pours a clear amber-brown with a medium, creamy, short lived, beige head that leaves spotty lacing. Sweet aroma of caramel malt and hops. Sweet flavour of caramel malt and a hint of dark fruit with a dry, bitter, hoppy finish. Medium body with a watery texture and soft carbonation. Simple, but ok.

Pounder can from Westgate Hotel shop. Dark-ish amber, frothy head fades fast to ring. Aroma is sweet, candy sugar and toffee. Where is the earthy, peaty notes? Taste too is very sweet, root beer barrels, toffee and candy sugar. None of the malts come through. I know its an AB Inbev joint, but still, I expected better.

This beer is far too thin and low on body for a scottish ale at 6%. Not a lot of "scotch" taste to it either. However, it is cleanly made. Taste & tap SD.

Shared 12 oz. bottle. Pours amber with a small off-white head. Malty aroma. Taste is malt, caramel, spice, yeast, some fruitiness. Really kind of a mess - flavors all over the place. Flavor is not particularly pleasant. Did not finish.

Four Peaks at PHX. Mild malt aroma. Taste is cereal and grainy. Not much caramel. Clear copper.

On tap at Four Peaks in Tempe, pours a clear pale copper with a small white head. Aroma is very subdued, not bringing out much other than faint bready malt. Flavour is much the same, just bready malt and maybe a touch of toasted dry caramel, but that's a stretch. Weak and boring. Meh.

On draught at Red Devil (Lakeside), December 2013.
Clear dark amber with strong auburn tints and a beige head that shows moderate retention.
Sweet and fruity notes of candied plum, raspberry, dry toffee and raisins abound in the nose. No alcohol or flaw, with ample grassy hop notes helping dry out and balance the maltiness.
Fruity and with light sourdough-like malt flavors, moderately sweet toffee and raisins all adding quite a bit of complexity and flavor for only 6%. Don’t get a ton of smokiness, though there is some dry phenolic character. The fruitiness is quite dry and quite fragrant in the nose and flavorful in the mouth. Probably my favorite part. Not too tangy or toasted, as often many beers of this style can be.
