It’s a brave new world, but not the world you thought it would be. Heavily hopped red ales rule with a sinister citrusy iron fist and obliterate anyone’s tastebuds who dare to stand in their way.

Cask @ Sportsman, Huddersfield. Amber-brown with a creamy-frothy head. It has a very easy-drinking texture, edging towards watery, but it isn't. It has mildly sweet mild malts in both aroma and taste with an underlying chocolate graininess.

The Maltings, York. Keg. Light haze on this amber beer, good pale cream colour head. Palate is airy and crisp. Sweetish malts. Spicy esters - quite strong, spicy bitter bubblegum. Little orange peel and bitter floralness. Light dry finish. Bitter floral linger. Found this quite awkward and much too estery
