This 12 month barrel-aged version of our award-winning Expedition Stout thirsts for travel, but is perfectly content to sit in your cellar, maturing, until you are ready. The tough part? Deciding if you want to enjoy it now or wait until later. You can't go wrong either way.

Bottle. Dark, brown with a wispy head. Aroma had notes of roasted grains and bourbon barrell. Taste was great. Flavors of roasted grains, dark toast and hints of the barrel
Feels like more oxidation than 2020 but also more nuttiness, surprisingly ending up more delicious for me, thanks FlandersNed ! Subtle boozy chocolate balanced.
I once got way too drunk on expedition at Barracudas in Miami at a dollar beers event with a generous bartender, avoided it ever since but its also been 10+ years so this is nice to revisit, and bourbon aged this time! Thanks FlandersNed !

On tap at Maduro. Pours black with an earthy brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has leather and bourbon with strong roasted malts and a bit of chocolate and dark grains backing. Flavor has bitter dark grains, bourbon and chocolate with growing leather and roast notes in the finish.

Bottled 11/17/21, drunk 7/23/22. Clear ebony. Medium-sized, tan head fades slowly to ring. That's A LOT of bourbon, though it smells good for what's there. Heavy spice, light alcohol (not sharp/hot/glue-like) and notes of brown sugar and molasses. I get more bourbon than I do beer, however, so that doesn't bode well... Less of a bourbon-dominated beer than I expected; much less. Surprisingly well-attenuated, with a full body, yet nothing like the syrupy, viscous motor oil of today's Imperial Stouts. Honestly, this seems lighter-bodied than many of the early 2000's expeditions that I grew up on. But that could just be nostalgia. Clean, chocolatey, bourbony with some light-to-moderate alcohol in the finish that additionally dries the beer out. Very simple, straightforward stuff with not much more than spicy bourbon, alcohol, dark chocolate and moderate caramel. Comes together nicely, though 13.1% abv seems very high and not quite sure the flavor is worth that much alcohol. As I finish the bottle, the bourbon and alcohol are just a bit too dominant.

355 ml bottle, pkg 11/17/2021, shared by Nico, many thanks! Black body, with a small, creamy, beige head. Aroma of bourbon, dark chocolate, wood, soy sauce, coffee, some tobacco. Tastes similar, with more booze. Medium, oily mouthfeel, with a moderate carbonation. Finishes warm, moderate boozy, medium sweet, moderate roasty, bourbon, wood, soy sauce, dark chocolate, some tobacco. Tasty! Classic, old-school BBA Stout, robust and very well balanced. Alcohol is a bit noticeable, but not overpowering for the ABV at all. Great sipper. Score: 8 / 4 / 8 / 5 / 17

0,355l bottle at home shared by Nice & Lezley, big thanks. Bottled 2021. Black color, small coffee colored head. Smells of bourbon, nutty, light vanilla, bit boozy, chocolate. Lovely smell. Full body, light carbonation. Tastes of bourbon, nutty, marzipan, chocolate, light vanilla, spices. Finishes lightly sweet with notes of bourbon, nutty and chocolate notes. Nice, tad boozy, but overall good old school stout

Refrigerated 12 oz brown bottle, packed on November 17, 2021, poured into a snifter. Aroma is bourbon, medium/thick body, lower carbonation, and little lacing. Taste is bourbon, oak, dark malt, ash, and dry finish. I have been wanting to try this for years, big thanks to shrubber85.

Bourbon, chocolate malt, and hay aroma. Oil black with small but long lasting head. Moderately sweet bourbon, chocolate malt, and moderately bitter dry hay, ash, and alcohol flavor. Great body and balance - nice bourbon aftertaste. A classic BBA Imperial Stout.
