Cask at Crewe Dog, Crewe. Pours a clear bright golden orange, with a small white head. There’s a vague aroma of citrus, but nothing much. In the mouth there is an initial burst of sweet malts, before floral hops take over. Quite bitter they are too, and this lasts into the dry finish. A simple beer, but done very well.

Cask @ Artichoke, Chester [060417]
Light amber, clear, thin white head, good lacing
Aroma - soft musty pale fruits, very little aroma
Taste - light pale malts, soft bitter cereal, bitter English hops, slight mineral tang, touch of citrus, some raw bitterness
Palate - Medium light body, fairly bitter, bit spicy. Finish has a bitter linger
Overall - Plain straightforward golden ale, not keen on some of the raw bitterness in there
