Bottled at RBESG-06, GTN. It pours almost black, with a brown head, releasing aromas of mocha, alcohol, hops and fruits. All a bit weak, except for the alcohol. Some sour and citric aromas, with alcohol and coffee-bitterness. Full-bodied, and with a fruity, sour and bitter finish. There’s too much sourness in it, else it is good. (060826)

Bottle at Kookfest 06. Black, thin beige head. Impy stout aroma, ok sour stout in mouth. Oily, charcoal, goodish malts in mouth. Interesting.

(Bottle 33 cl) Pours very dark brown and almost opaque with a small, of-white head. Lightly sweet aroma of roasted malt and dried fruits. Medium body with lightly tart, roasted malt and some light, vinous accents. Perhaps a whiff of wood. Discreet bitterness in the finish. Pleasant but not overly imponerande for an Impy. 260806

Bottled@RBESG’06. Opaque black, small tan head. Cold coffee aroma, some notes of oxidation (!). Wineous mouthfeel, alcoholic, dark molasses, bitterish. Slightly unbalanced, maybe a beer to age.

Bottled. Black colour (or very dark brown), nice white head. Vineous nose, plum, some alcohol and coffee. Also caramel is there. Flavour quite the same. It lacks roast completely, and has some kind of sweetish bitter weird flavour along. Otherwise great but the sweetishsour thing ruins it. Also the lack of roast was a disappointment. Thanks go to omhper for this one.

[Bottle] Black with a rich, thick head. Aroma is roasty with liquorice and coffee. Flavour is roasty coffee and sweet liquorice. This could have been a great stout BUT... there’s an annoying sourness lurking in the background that I don’t like. Is it really supposed to be there?

Draught at Glenfiddich Warehouse, Stockholm
Black color; thick creamy head. Good aroma, showing mainly roasted malts, some glue, chocolate, light ripe banana or apple. Smooth, velvety mouthfeel, with excellent malt and soft roasted malt, some coffee, sweet and just the correct bitterness, fresh. Dangerous!

(Draught at Glenfiddich Warehouse 68, Stockholm, Mar 11) Colour is pitch black with a creamy off-white head. Nose is roasted with lots of dark, bitter chocolate, smoky notes and hints of soy sauce (or maybe oyster sauce). Taste is stunning: roasted malt, soy/oyster sauce, black coffe, chocolate truffels. Starts smooth and somewhat oily, becomes more and more bitter and mellows to become more velvety towards the finish. Very well done! (Rerate, bottled, 13 Sep) Appearance and nose is mainly the same as the draught version. Taste, however, lacks some of the brilliant balance: lots of chocolate and black coffee, notes of liquorice, soy sauce, wet ashes and salt. Wineous and citrussy, starts sweet, turns drier in the bitter and roasted finish. More balance and smoother, firmer body in the the draught version, but still, quite a magnificent brew.

Rating added 3/6/2006Bottle at Bishops Arms (Västra Hamngatan) Gothenburg, SwedenDark ruby red color, thick creamy brown head. Lots of chocolate and some coffee in the scent, fruity tones, a bit of raisin.Lots of coffee in the taste, very dry mouthfeel. Looong aftertaste with caramel and coffee, very sweet and a good bitterness. Big body, almost thick. Some harshness as of the skin of grapes. My rating is from my first impression only. It (the beer) gets pretty "much" after a while though. Share it with someone (to that price you should).8/5/7/4/14=3.8

Bottled. Opaque black with surprisingly rich, creamy beige head. Fruity nose with notes of prickly pears and licorice. The mouthfeel is slim and soft. Plenty of sweet malt and estery notes of higher alcohols. Very vinous with notes of coffee. The initial sweetness is replaced by a dry finish. Complex. An unusual imperial stout with as it is so fruity and vinous, and yet it does not get sticky or overly sweet.
