A decadent stout, inspired by the special British ales exported to the Russian Court, during the 18th century. It is black and viscous like crude oil from the oil fields in the Caspian Sea. The flavor is dominated by dark notes of burnt sugar, spicy hops and smokiness from peaked malt.

500mL bottle, pours black with a medium tan head. Aroma reveals heavy notes of roasted malt, peat and burnt candied sugar. Flavour is very similar, bringing out a very nice cohesive mix of peat, roasted malt, burnt caramelized sugar and dry cocoa. The peat is not too overbearing at all, showing just a subtle smoky quality. Full-bodied and warming. Excellent impie stout.

Bottle bought at Olbutikken in October 2013. Black with a large tan head. Aroma and taste of roasted malt, chocolate, wood, some dark fruit, ash and light smoke. Sweet and with a long aftertaste. A nice one.

Tap at Brasserie V. Excessive head. Roasty mint edged chocolate aroma. Opaque black with an offensively big, steady beige head. Sticky and sweet, with a a smoky edge. A let down for a Danish beer, a little warm and brutal. Oily cocoa chocolate. Brown sugar Imperial Stout. OK, but lacking World Class depth and mouthfeel. Oily, dry, boozy.

Had@CPH BF 2013. More or less pitch black colour with a mediumsized creamy beigeish brown head. Aroma is roasted malts, mild burnt wet wood, some tar, tobacco as well as some sugary notes. Flavour is mild peated smoke, some liquorice, tar, leather, wood, a bit roasted notes finishing in a nice floral bitter way along with all the burnt and sweet notes.
