A decadent stout, inspired by the special British ales exported to the Russian Court, during the 18th century. It is black and viscous like crude oil from the oil fields in the Caspian Sea. The flavor is dominated by dark notes of burnt sugar, spicy hops and smokiness from peaked malt.

Draft. Deep brown/black body. Frothy beige head. Aroma of smoke, leather, roasted malts, plum, dark fruits, mustiness. The flavor is moderately to heavily sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Medium to full body, velvety texture, lively carbonation. Taste of leather, chocolate and roasted malts. Some alcohol in the finish, but not overpowering. A funky, sweet imperial with a nice balance of flavors.

500 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet Kvadrat. ABV is 10%. Black colour, huge tan head. Aroma of fruity hops, chocolate, tar and coffee, a hint of peat smoke. Fairly sweet flavour with strong notes of dark malts, caramel, peat smoke, tar and liquorice - and alcohol. Medium bitter hops throughout. Too much peat smoke in the flavour for me. and maybe too much sweetness.

Bottled. A black beer with a brown shine under a huge dark brown head. The aroma has notes of chocolate, roasted malt, and alcohol. The flavor is sweet with notes of roasted malt, chocolate, alcohol, and smoke, leading to a dry roasted finish.

50 cL bottle. Pours hazy dark brown to black with a small tan head. Aroma is roasted dark malty, slight herbal. Tarish. Sweet, dextrose and dark roasted to tarish/smoked malt. Dry, hard roasted and yet with this dextrose like sweetness. Dark roasted malty finish.

Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of yespr. Pours a clear reddish brown with a creamy, beige head. Sweet roast in the nose, but also quite some smoke. Rich body, sweet roast, dark dried fruit but a smoky note that is too much for me and spoils the base beer in my humble opinion. Quite some warming alcohol in the finish and a massive malt bitterness. 250313

500ml bottle carried back home from Vinmonopolet Vika, Oslo. Looking good revealing an initial huge tan-coloured head with solid retention. Lacing rings down the glass. Almost jet black coloured body with a deep brown shade. Rich aroma of chocolate, dried fruits and subdued liquorice. Taste follows suit bringing a nice blend of prunes, chocolate malts and a dash of roasted sugar. Long lived dry, malt bitter ending with tingling alcohol behind. Very smooth and mouthfilling. Full bodied. Great praise for this one, my best so far this year (at home, Tromsø 26.02.2013).

0.5l bottle. This is a clear deep dark brown one with a nice dense and kinda creamy milk-chocolate head. On the nose I get a subtle sweetness with candy and fresh hops. It smells quite fresh and new this. Also there are traces of burned chocolate, caramel and something faint glazed and fruity in the background. Nice. It's just a little bit above average on the carbonation level and it has a nice oily and sticking mouthfeel. It's sweet also in the taste. Actually both sugar sweet and a bit dry. Ripe fruits with a clear subtle but definitely present peaty hints, grassy hops and a slightly pungent touch as well. Snickers with something slightly spicy. Quite a decent and somewhat different one this. 04.01.2013

50 cl bottle @ Olutravintola Konttori
My 3000. rating!
Aroma is sweet with honey, fruits, some fruit sugar, roasted notes and Nøgne House aroma(!). Flavour is rather sweet with sugar Finishes dry with nice, roasted note, hops, gooseberry bush and coffee. Somewhat too sweet but the roasted notes are really nice – and actually the sweetness doesn’t disturb me that much. Drinking the whole bottle could be a challenge though.
