The Rocket is a hybrid beer drawing influences from California common and a European dark lager. California common or a steam beer is an American lager styled beer that is fermented at higher temperatures. The history of this style of beer dates back to the 1800s when refrigeration was not readily available in California. European dark lagers originated in Bavaria, but are now widely brewed there and around the world. This beer is fermented with a California common yeast, but draws influence from the the dark beers of Bavaria and Pilsen. The aroma of this beer has slight roasted character from the dark malts, but not overwhelming so to allow the aroma of the European Noble hops to shine through. Taste has slight reminisce of the roasted malt that leads into a moderate lingering bitterness with a rounded finish.
