Tap at Kura Kura. Dark brown, small golden head. Aroma is roasty, coffee, deep and dark, fruity. Taste is nice, dark, roasty, bitterness at finish, bit of coffee. Quite thick. OK, but maybe a bit predictable.

Bottle thanks to Mick. Pours a pitch black color with a large brown head, very thick but goes down a bit. A big roasty nose, dark fruit, some hot alcohols. The flavor is licorice, roast, a dark ashy chocolate. Very big beer, fairly hot. Not a sugary sweet Impy here, but a big roasty metallic one, and it is great. Lovely beer. Maybe a bit hot, but otherwise good.

Swan Lake Imperial Stout 10% On tap at Molto. Pitch black pour with a tan head that leaves lacing that coats the edge of the glass with a beige film. A roasty chocolate, savoury with hints of Scandinavian licorice and possibly coconut. Insanely full bodied, the mouthfeel is like drinking melted ice cream - in a good way, I get the feel you could stand a spoon up straight in this. Wild. The taste isn’t quite as complex as the Barrel-Aged version but is damn good. Roasty, red grapes, licorice, cocoa nibs, a bit of toasted oats, rich bitter chocolate. This is probably one of the best Japanese Imperial Stouts out there and definitely one flying under the radar.

On tap at Pub Edo fall 2014. Dark brown with a small dark tan head. Big coffee aromas along with some roasted malt, prune, fig, and some cacao. Taste is more of the same with the cacao and coffee taking the lead. The roasted malt flavors come out as well. Some light resiny hop flavor comes out as well, especially on the finish, which is dry and smooth. --- Beer merged from original tick of Swan Lake Imperial Stout on 16 Feb 2016 at 14:45
