On cask at the Haymarket. Appearance - caramel to golden with a nice head. Nose - elusive but there are notes of caramel biscuits. Taste - toffee and sawdust. Astringent malt finish. Palate - medium bodied with a creamy texture and an astringent unpleasant finish. Overall - sorry this seems at odds with other ratings so will try again later.

Cask at the Bulls Head, Barston, Solihull. Golden amber pour with a lively, long-lasting white head. Malty aroma leading to a nice mellow, bitter taste with hints of caramel. A good choice of hops delivers a nice refreshing ale. It was served a iittle cooler than I would normally expect, but that took little away from the flavour. This ale isn’t readily available in the English Midlands, but it’s worth tasting and like most ales of this style, it’s perfect for a session.

Cask. Golden-amber. Earthy, with a hint of caramel. Soft caramel taste, again a bit earthy. Light, refreshing working class bitter.
