Black beer, thin tan head. Smells of roasted malt. Flavour follows suit, with malt that's sweet and toasty. Bready with some hops through that too to balance it out. Masks yh4 strength very well and it's super drinkable.

Keg at cloisters... Deep black.. Thin tan lacing... Soft sweet chocolate roast malts... Dark dry dry roast... Chocolate roast malts.

On cask at the Hanging Bat. Appearance - dark brown to black with red chinks. Off white lacing. Nose - coffee and treacle. Dar chocolate. Taste - creamy chocolate and light smoke. A touch of treacle again. Palate - creamy and medium bodied. Roasty edge, decent length. Overall - quite substantial for a schwarzbier.

Cask at cloisters. Pours deep ruby brown, nose is liquorice, roasted, meaty, chocolate, taste is similar, quite sweet.
