a.k.a. Chris’s Summer Delight, an unfiltered, refreshingly tart small batch beer conceived by our own Chris Haveman from 50% wheat malt and just a touch of Hersbrucker hops.

Bottle from Whole Foods - Bowery in August 2012, rating 2100. A bit hazy light golden with a medium, fluffy white head. Aroma of "Pommac" (a Swedish soda), citrus, wheat, and some brett. The taste was not as tart as expected. Still refreshing and drinkable. A descent Berliner Weisse.

Bomber bought at Super 1 in CDA, ID. Aroma is wheaty, doughy bread, some lacto. Pours slightly hazy gold with a medium white head that falls into a blanket somewhat quick. Taste is nice and tart, lemony, thirst-quenching, salty. Creamy mouthfeel with a thin body. This is definitely perfect for summer. Seems like it would be better suited in a smaller package, though. The bomber is a bit awkward for carrying around to different summer destinations. A six-pack (hell, a 12 pack) of 12 ouncers would go down good at the beach, I think. Nice one.

Fizzy gold with a light haze - head almost completely diminishes - nose is moderate wheat, light lactic acid, some bready/yeast notes - flavor is crisp and moderately acidic - some sour apple and light white vinegar notes - a bit of dry wheat and dusty yeast on the tail end - simple - somewhat refreshing, but there is a sharpness to the acidity on the end that makes it a touch hard to enjoy that much. (edit - second half of the bottle brings a lot more yeast into the pour, which cuts the acidity significantly - still a bit watery in flavor overall, but not too bad.

Tap at OBF. Pours hazy gold with a disappearing head. Mild sour fruit aroma. Med minus body. Flavor is sour with something like lemon and light pitted fruit. The sour is firm, but not super strong. There’s a touch of bread in the finish.

Draught at the Pilsner Room in Portland. Bright golden, with a thick, fine white head. Faint nose of lemon, minerals and a bit of lactic acid. Lemon flavor, light yogurt, big malt, quite salty. Alka-seltzer like minerals. Nice lemon, but it lacks sufficient lacto character.

On tap at Saraveza's IIPA Fest, to cleanse the palate. Pours a cloudy golden yellow with a small white head. Aroma is heavy on the wheat, with a slight tartness. Flavour is very wheaty, with only a slight tartness - very low acidity. Refreshing I suppose, but not so well made.

To think that I used to deprecate wheat beers. Pleasant grassy and floral aroma, smelled. Wheaty flavour with bread and hoppy notes. Hoppy finish with a sweet bit.
