Bottle, with a big thanks to my Secret Sinterklaas. Dark brown color. Dried furit and whisky in the aroma. Malty sweetish flavor. Caramel. Dominant whisky. vanilla. Has dried due to the barrel aging. Low on carbon. Delicious and well balanced.
From backlog. On tap at Haandfestival Dark brown with offwhite head. Malts, hops, Caramel, vanilla.

On tap at Haand Festival. It’s an unclear pale brown beer with a small, lasting off-white to beige head. Some lacing. The aroma has caramel and some alcohol, at least not much alcohol for a beer at this strength, with dried fruits, bread, some dark sugar and leather. It’s full-bodied and then some, smooth and carbonated at a pleasant low level. Warming and sweet, with caramel, dried fruits, dark sugar and leather notes. Lasting warming finish. A bit heavy this one, but a small bottle and a big chair would be a nice combo. 160528

Very boozy and warming. Thick, creamy, semisweet and malty. Plenty of barrel going on. The kind of barleywine I like.

Small light-cream head, soon reduced to rim over reddish hazy-brown beer, almost no carbonation. Almost perfumey nose with wine, roses, esters & fusels, a tad earthy, old wet wood, sherry, and also rainwater. Bitterish-fruity, preserved orangerind, sangria, vinous; dry finish, maltcookies and again lots of fusels and esters. Vanilla icecream with rumraisins. Alcoholheat, slick to viscous, but not really huge body, alcoholthinning. Low carbonation. One to sip, with pleasure. One strange thing: it is much more vinous, than whisky-like in character.

Dark amber with off white head - Sweet caramel and vanilla aroma - Good malt body with a good caramle and vanilla flavour with some wood as well - The wood and vanilla flavour goes into the finish with a well hidden alcohol - This was real good

Bottle shared thanks to Sjogro. Hazy dark amber with a ring cream head. Aroma of malt, butterscotch, light overripe dark fruit, oak barrel, whiskey, booze and caramel. Flavour is light heavy sweet and moderate bitter. Medium to full bodied with soft carbonation.

Shared bottle at Hui’s. Hazy brown, offwhite head. Big sweet, roasted barley, wood, grape droesem, light whiskey, grain. Medium sweet, light bitter. Medium body, low carbonation. Bittersweet, bit alcoholic finish. Bottle shared at deanso’s celebrating kermis’ 40th. Near clear brown with thin cream head. Big barley aroma, slightly roasted. Quite alcoholic. Barrel notes are not very subtle. --- Beer merged from original tick of Barrel Project #03/2016 on 06 Oct 2016 at 23:28 - Score: 7. Original review text: At Hui’s, post Gemma Ray concert. Bottle shared thanks to Hui and sjogro. Clear mahogany with bubbly beige head. Light old woody notes, sweet malts, vanilla, green leaves, lots of alcohol, red wine, quite some tannins, caramel. Over medium sweet and over medium alcoholic bitterness. Over medium bodied with slick alcoholic feel. Lots of barrel and booze, but also quite vinous and still a barley wine. Not my fave but quite nice overall.
