500 ml bottle. Hazy amber body with a fine beige head. Aroma is malt and caramel. Flavor is strong and sweet malty and caramel, unfortunately marred by some off-flavors like cooked vegetables. It’s a shame, but my experience with Skagen is that those beers need to be sampled as fresh as possible preferably on tap locally.

On tap at Ølfestival 2012. It pours a clear, golden body under a finger-thick white head. The aroma is grassy and sugary, with pale malts. It’s tasting of apples, grass, a generic fruityness and is lightly sugary sweet but lacking a bit on the bitterness. Semi-dry and full bodied. Low on bitterness in the finish too, but at least it’s not cloying. A beer too gentle in all aspects. Rating: 6-3-6-3-12-3.0. 120512

Bottle. It’s an unclear, dark brown beer topped by a small, beige head. Dried fruits, caramel and a spicyness on the nose. Over-ripe banana and some faint acetone notes. Vanilla hints and some booze hints. Quite alcoholic flavor, warming and full-bodied on the palate, with flavors of caramel, prunes, raisins, some vanilla and a spicy hint. Some bitterness in the finish. Not the typical quadrupel, more like a blend of a quadruple and an english style barley wine. Drinkable, quite complex, but not very interesting. 120915
