Cluyn or ‘Groninger Haverbier’ is a medieval beer which was famous in the ancient city of Groningen, the Netherlands. This beer is brewed following a preserved recipe from 1476. With 40% oats, this beer is notable of its fine taste and soft mouthfeel. Delicately hopped with old type ‘Fuggle’. The only beer that used to be drunk warm.

Bottle from Beerdome. Aroma is grainy with straw, spicy rye, damp leaves, musty notes, veggies, funky in a strange way. Flavour is a bit sourish with a light bitterness. Body is medium. Seems really 'raw', interesting from a historical perspective, but do I want to drink it again? The answer is no.

Hazy amber with white head. Sickly, sourdough, bready, weak watery apricots, herbs, light sour. Interesting but not the best of Toon.

Bottle. Orange amber pour. Aroma of subtle grassy tartness, malt, oak, caramel, grassy herbs and rye. Taste has irony malt, a little funk, rye, grassy herbs, yeast, caramel and some raisin. I can see how this is an old beer style, but in today's world this seems unfinished.

From bottle. Pale amber color. Caramel and lemon in the aroma. Oak, caramel, sweetish. Can be compared to a faro. Na drie jaar nog maar eens geproefd. Man, man wat is-tie lekker geworden. Het caramelletje zit er nog in, maar het is wat aangezuurd en wat minder zoet geworden. Rijpt werkelijk uitstekend.
