Cluyn or ‘Groninger Haverbier’ is a medieval beer which was famous in the ancient city of Groningen, the Netherlands. This beer is brewed following a preserved recipe from 1476. With 40% oats, this beer is notable of its fine taste and soft mouthfeel. Delicately hopped with old type ‘Fuggle’. The only beer that used to be drunk warm.

Thank you Martinus! Bottle sampled @ Borefts 2014. Hazy orange with no head. Lots of hay, orange, caramel. Taste is sweetish tart lambic, hazy orange, caramel, light tart, soft sweetness. Creamy body. Enjoyable for sure.

Sampled from bottle @ In de Wildeman. Slightly unclear dark orange color, full sized off-white to beige head. Aroma is a bit musty, horse blanket and lightly a touch of oat. Tastes about the same: horse blanket, a bit musty, moderately sour. Quite pleasant overall.

Sample from bottle @ In De Wildeman, Carnivale Brettanomyces 2014, with joes, bierkoning, theJvd & benzai. Reddish brown color, hazy. Aroma’s: sweet malts, dusty, red fruit, plus a little sourness retronasal. Flavor is moderate sweet’n’sour. Short finish, slightly dry and litlle bit bitter.
