BOTTLE 60CL. It’s got the nice dark malts character (i.e. toasted dark bread, not caramel sweetness), though it is somewhat subdued. The excessive carbonation does not help either. Some spicy hop bitterness in the finish is very welcome. In broad lines, it is not far from other Bulgarian dark beers.

Bottle in Gabrovo, Bulgaria. Pours pure, clear brown with a creamy, off-white head. Semi-dark malt aroma, subtle bread and fruits. Light to medium sweet flavor, toast, mild cocoa, mild dough, faint herbal bitterness. Medium bodied with average to lively carbonation. Basic finish, some sweet and dark malts, toasty sugars. The overall balance is decent but the character is week. A pretty basic beer and certainly not the best dark lager I’ve had in Bulgaria.
