Amager Hr. Frederiksen (Colorado Whiskey Vanilla Edition) A barrel aged Imperial Stout with whole vanilla – festival special, only available at CBC 2012, 11% We barrel aged our signature beer, Hr. Frederiksen, for nothing less than 26 months on a barrel that formerly held Colorado whiskey from Stranahans. Then for CBC we wanted our fans to have an extra special treat, so we aged the beer for another 3 months, this time with whole vanilla. It both mellowed out the edges and added a discreet and subtle spicy edge. But don’t worry, this for sure still ain’t no cuckold of a beer. Hr. Frederiksen still kicks some serious ass.

On tap at Copenhagen Beer Celebration.
Opaque black beer, good tan head. Nose of vanilla. Palate is quite light with restrained crispness. Woody dryness. Semi sweet vanilla. The whisky is well integrated, Quite a warming dry finish. Tasty but this one doesn’t really hang together for me. I like vanilla in beers but it is disjointed here.

Draft. A black beer with a dark brown head. The aroma has notes of vanilla, whiskey, and roasted malt. The flavor is very sweet with notes of roasted malt, whiskey, vanilla, dried fruit, and alcohol.

On tap. Pours an opaque black with a small beige head. Sweet vanilla aroma blending in well with the whiskey. Rich, full body, rustic wood character, soft and pleasant whiskey notes further smoothened by the vanilla. Warming alcohol finish. I actually feel the vanilla adds a pleasant extra dimension to this beer. 120512

From tap. Pours black wit a small tan head. Aroma is dense vanilla and chocolate. Smooth dark roasted malty and vanilla. Dense malty, sweet vanilla and bitter. Lasting dense vanilla finish. This didnt help the basebeer :(

Sample on tap at Copenhagen Beer Celebration. Black colour, brown head. Strong aroma of vanilla and fusel alcohols. Full and rich mouthfeel. Sweet flavour with loads of vanilla, bourbon and chocolate.

Draught. Strong vanilla and alcohol aroma. Black colour. Small stable brown head. The flavour is roasted and quite alcoholic. Sweet with a distinct vanilla note. A bit boozy, but good. Very late coffee aftertaste with a bit of earth.
