This is a bigger, bolder version of our mainstay Pecan Porter, with a richer finish. Two months on recently emptied Jack Daniels select barrels imparted a wonderful vanilla character from the oak and a pleasant amount of whiskey nose and flavor.

Bottle thanks to Craig. Pours a pure black color with a medium brown head. The aroma is a sweet nutty note with some roast and whiskey. The flavor is similar with some roast, light dark fruit, the pecan is very big, medium to light whiskey, earthy. Good. Very smooth.

Tasting at Papsø’s, vintage 2011, bottle 673/996
Black color with generous brownish head. The chocolate aroma is strong (not the best chocolate though), with roasted nuts, light dust and alcohol, cardboard and cream. Good body, strong chocolate flavor with some roasted malts, coffee, dust, ashes, cardboard, whiskey, alcohol.
Boozy brew, drinkable but messy.

Bottle 75 cl. Courtesy of Doodler. Vintage 2011, bottle # 673/996. Pours an opaque black with a light brown head. Sweet toffeeish Bourbon aroma and a slightly rustic woody edge. Rich body, carbonation is a little heavy - comes a slow gusher - chocolate and roast with subtle notes of the whiskey. Gets a little coffeeish roasty towards the finish. Some late alcohol. 160612

750mL bottle from atxdelivery, thanks Josh. Shared with a few friends, poured into a Hebrew anniversary small glass. Pours is super foamy, the rising, bubbly kind, atop a dark dark brown, almost black color. Whiskey dominating the aroma without overpowering and making it aversive. Flavor is similar with a good, not sugary, pretty well attenuated despite the high alcohol, porter underneath. You could have not used any pecans because nothing was apparent at all. The barrel aging has thinned the beer out and the stronger carbonation makes for a less integrated mouthfeel. The beer is kind of nothing special, its good not bad but not all for me. Eh.
