23/6/2023. Bottle enjoyed picnicking on Pakefield beach. Pours mid to dark brown with a large frothy beige head. Aroma of toffee, raisins, dark fruits, brown bread, roasted malt, hints of black treacle, liquorice and camp coffee. Moderate sweetness and medium bitterness. Medium body, average carbonation. Lovely bittersweet dark fruit malty finish. Enjoyed this a lot more than those in 2016!

Bottle from Beers of Europe. Appearance - red to brown. Nicely fluffy off white head. Nose - delicate redcurrant and cherry note. Immersed in sweet malt and gentle toffee. Taste - burnt toffee, extremely dry liquorice. Light savoury. Palate - close to medium bodied with a crunchy yet tangy texture and a long dry tangy crunchy finish. Overall - complex if a bit gnarly.

Bottle split at Chris & Ruth’s pre GBBF Shindig, 07/08/16. Clear amber with a well presented beige head. Nose is brown bread, varnish, nutty, earthy, a touch on the raw side. Taste comprises ripe fruit, malt loaf, spice, dates, brown bread. Medium bodied, fone carbonation, semi drying close. Looked and felt good but lacked somewhat at the business end.
