Bottle 33 cl. Courtesy of Rune. Pours a clear dark amber with an off-white head. Sweet roasty nose with some dark dried fruit. Medium body, some roast, dark fruits, a slight tartness and a massive malt bitterness that builds up quite a bit. An unusual Porter. 030612

330 ml unlabeled bottle directly from brewer kindly shared by Rune at Beer Session XVIII in Tromsø 030112. Clear dark mahogany body with beige head. Strangely passive aroma of slightly roasted but somewhat sour and watered malts, with hints of liqourice. Flavour is similarly subdued although not as sweet. Comments during the session suggest that the contents of the bottle sampled might be damaged as version on tap scored much higher with those which have tasted both. Overall surprisingly anonymous both for porters and quality yuletide brews.

Unlabelled bottle in Olhallen, Tromso. Was told this was 8.0% by the barman. Clear dark brown - red beer, good pale tan head. Semi dry palate. Slightly soft with fine carbonation. Nice malt, a little dark with unsweet dark chocolate. Whisper of coffee. Nice fruits underneath - well integrated dark cherry. Semi dry finish. Decent.

A few half litres from tap at Ølhallen during November. Shiny black naked surface. Completely black body, more or less. Rather subdued aroma of dark, mid-sweet malts, slightly roasted. Liquorice up front in the taste profile mingled with notes of coffee and chocolate. Dark bitter fruits throughout with a pleasant roastiness. Well bodied. A tasty Yuletide brew (Tromsø, November 2011).

Thanks to E. Botlle with no label(usually you get this only from tap at some bars in Tromsø*), from Mack’s microbrewery. Deep deep red, almost black with a nice lightbrown head. The aroma of roasted malt with dark fruits and chocolate. The taste is sweet with a nice chocolate and chistmas spices ending. A bit oily. This is one of the best beers I have tasted from MAck, nice job!
