Oasis is a Double ESB/IPAish beer that came about from playing around with one of Jeff’s favorite homebrew recipes. Here at Tallgrass we love malt and we love hops, and this beer has both of them in record quantities; well, at least records for our baby brewery.
At a hefty 7.2% ABV and 93 IBU, Oasis is a big beer that has to be priced a bit higher than our regular line of beers. We think that once you taste the over-the-top hops and surprisingly sturdy malt backbone you will realize why it’s worth it.
Definitely not a fruit-extract seasonal shandy, this beer is meant to be enjoyed on the back porch, the front porch, or even on the stoop. What’s a stoop? Well, it’s a good place to drink beer, is what it is.

Can. A hazy amber beer with a lazing yellowish head. The aroma has notes of lemony hops, straw, and caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of hops, malt, and caramel, leading to a bitter finish.

Can 1pt. Courtesy of Skyview. Pours a hazy amber with a creamy and lacing beige head. Lovely fresh flowery and citrusy hops in the nose. Medium body, very smooth mouthfeel. Discreet caramel but it’s all the amazing hops that dominates this, heavy pine and citrus with a bitter finish - distinctly bitter! Lovely! 200312

Taste from can. Still a few notes left from Dark Lord Day 2011. I first thought this was a pale ale. Very cloudy, makes me wonder if it was conditioned in the can. I thought of an American pale ale hop nose. taste is very solid and hoppy one with American hops, nothing extreme or out of the ordinary. Goes down nice and easy.

Sampled on draft at 3R6P this beer poured a hazy orange-caramel color with a large foamy orange-white head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was sweetish pine, grapefruit, perfume and undertones of faint caramel and nut. The flavor was bitter and dryish with moderate pine, grapefruit and lemon and light caramel, nut and bread underneath. The finish was long and bitter with lingering pine, grapefruit and perfume. Fairly full bodied. Interesting.

Location: 16 oz can from Colonial Wine and Spirits, 11/14/11
Aroma: The nose is rather hoppy, with some nice pine, floral, bread, and citrus notes to it
Appearance: Pours a mostly clear caramel-brown color with a big, thick, foamy off-white head
Flavor: Tastes kind of one-dimensional bitter with lots of resin, floral, and citrus, light malt backing
Palate: The body is medium-full, it is a little sticky and fairly creamy on the mouth, with a lengthy, dry finish
Overall Impression: This is a bitter Bitter. It really isn't a typical British style ESB, but more of an amped up American-style take that doesn't feel on style, maybe closer to an IPA then an ESB. Still an interesting beer though. It is the best thing I've tried from Tallgrass thus far, and I think I'll drink it again.

Much more of a pale ale than an esb. Light brown color. Flavor has lots of hops, and same for the aroma. It is bitter, and it does taste good, but the classification is way off.
