Oasis is a Double ESB/IPAish beer that came about from playing around with one of Jeff’s favorite homebrew recipes. Here at Tallgrass we love malt and we love hops, and this beer has both of them in record quantities; well, at least records for our baby brewery.

At a hefty 7.2% ABV and 93 IBU, Oasis is a big beer that has to be priced a bit higher than our regular line of beers. We think that once you taste the over-the-top hops and surprisingly sturdy malt backbone you will realize why it’s worth it.

Definitely not a fruit-extract seasonal shandy, this beer is meant to be enjoyed on the back porch, the front porch, or even on the stoop. What’s a stoop? Well, it’s a good place to drink beer, is what it is.

From a quarter pound can, heheh. First off, this is not yer typical, mild, enjoyable ESB. Somewhat revolting tripel esb aroma. Cloudy brownish lighter look. Expensive, may I add at $3. Big malty alky blasty thingy yippeee. Nssty blastic all across the nation ripping across my taste buds. Forgot about the CO2 because of the overly giant alky trippel ESB impact. Probably should not be in this style; I’ll say the style is strong english ale. Building astringent sides and back of the tongue. Mouth coating slam that only a real beer drinker could appreciate. Finish is same. I think I’m getting a little dizzy from this can. Yes, a real MANZ beer. Sickning cloying bitter nasty mess, on style for a trippel bitter.

500 ml Can. Aroma of chocolate, caramel, grass, earthy hops. Nice, glowing, red-orange. Sweet luscious malt flavor, great bitterness from English hops, earthy and a bit dirty. Good stuff. Very drinkable, rich and fun but not heavy or boozy. A nice ramped-up ESB.

Deep rich muddy ruby tinted body with a copper glow and a thick, soapy deep tan head that exploded out of the can, but died shortly afterwards - odd. Aroma of fresh hops, alcohol, malt, caramel and then more grapefruity hops. Medium to Full-bodied; Assertive grapefruit and piney hops with a touch of earthy and caramel malt with a lot of alcohol and a touch of sweetness at the end. Aftertaste shows a vague bit of spices, a little malt, a ton of alcohol and the nice bittering hoppiness that people (including myself) enjoy so much. Overall, a nice and flavourful, potent, complex and refreshing beer - all in a can, as a rarer style! I sampled this 500 mL can purchased from Total Wine in Chantilly, Virginia on 27-March-2011 sampled at home in Washington on 29-September-2011.

Received in trade from GPHarris, thanks again for the opportunity! Pours a fairly clear deep copper color with a huge fluffy white head that sticks to anything that gets in its way. Smell is floral, grassy, earthy hops mixed with sweet bread and caramel malt. Apricots and grainy malt in the aroma as well. Taste is grainy and a bit tannic up front. Sweet bready almost caramel malts come through next, then a hint of abv, followed by some resinous and citrus hop play. Long lingering lupulin in the finish. Decent brew that I quite enjoyed.

can from Zipp’s pours hazy amber with a medium off white head. Aroma is big with citrus hops and bready malts. Flavor starts with a rich doughy malt backbone giving way to the hops, earthen and citrus leaving a pretty aggressive bitter finish that is dry. Really well done. I wish I would have picked up a 4-pack of this.

Can: Peppery hay nose with toffee undertones. Clear copper, medium yellow head, good lacing. Flavor is heavily dominated by tea, but clover honey is also prominent. Grain notes are occasionally detected. Lilly and marigold finish. Alcohol not noticeable. Traditional and authentic British aromas and flavors. Carbonation and strength is more of the American flavor. Quite an interesting interpretation of an ESB

On tap at TapWerks OKC. Pours a clear copper with a small creamy white head with sticky lacing. The aroma is a floral hops and grapefruit. Thin mouthfeel with a hoppy bite and nice bitter finish. Hides the alcohol well making it easy to drink, a very good ESB from Tallgrass.

At the 5th Annual Richmond Industry Gathering on 11/28/2010 courtesy of Mike. Clear amber body with a small off-white ehad. Earthy fruit and alcohol aroma. Earthy flavor with some caramel. Medium body with moderately high carbonation.
